2011 Competitiveness Report published

On 17 January 2012, the European Commission published its 14th edition of the European Competitiveness Report. This latest edition highlights the impact of the global crisis on the European economy, and shows that the EU is recovering. For example, manufacturing output initially fell steeply by some 20%, before recovering strongly over the last two years. It also looks at issues including resource efficiency and dependence on non-energy raw materials. Regarding legislation, the report calls for internal consistency between regulations and directives.
