Commission Consultation on Renewable Energy Strategy launched

On 6 December 2011, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the Renewable Energy Strategy, with the aim of adopting a Communication on this issue during the first half of 2012. The main purpose of this Communication will be to examine the conditions which may be needed for the further development of renewable energy in a medium term perspective – i.e. until 2030. One area of particular importance is sustainability, and the issue of whether sustainability criteria are necessary for biomass. The deadline for comments is 7 February 2012.
