Fire safety

With the aim of promoting the fire resistant properties of concrete, as well as demonstrating its societal benefits including the protection of lives, property and the environment, CEMBUREAU has carried out a number of actions in this field.

Working together with the ECP (European Concrete Platform), published in 2008 a European brochure entitled “Comprehensive fire protection and safety with concrete”. This brochure, aimed, in particular, at specifiers, regulators and fire authorities, has also been adapted for national use in numerous European countries. In addition, CEMBUREAU, working together with the ECP, has produced an English version of the FEBELCEM Eruopean fire design guide “Fire Safety and concrete structures” (also available in French and Dutch) as well as a “European brochure on Improving Fire Safety in Tunnels: the Concrete Pavement Solution” (adapted at national level in France, Italy, Portugal and Turkey).
